Biography

At the age of 8, Finlay was discovered at Brazilian Soccer Schools in Tameside and recruited to join Burnley's youth set up. He marked his debut for Bolton Wanderers on 10 August 2019, coming on as a substitute in the second half of a 0-0 draw against Coventry City. At just 16 years and 122 days old, he became the second youngest player in Bolton's history to feature in a first-team match. In the 2020-21 season, he returned to the U-18 squad and excelled with 19 goals and 18 assists.

Upon signing his first professional contract, Bolton promptly activated an option clause in his contract to extend for a further year. In 2022, he embarked on a short-term loan agreement with Atherton Collieries, competing in the Northern Premier League Premier Division. On 25 May 2023, he committed to a new one-year contract with Bolton, with an option for an additional year. Expressing his admiration for Finlay, Bolton manager Ian Evatt remarked, “His talent is without question, he is a very talented kid.. He is a talented young man and we’re lucky to have him”.
